Here is an excerpt from his book, They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky, about him:
Alephonsion Deng left the Sudan in 1987 and were relocated in 2001 from the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya to the United States as part of an international refugee relief program.
Since his arrival in the United States, Alephonsion Deng has attended San Diego City College, worked in the Medical Records Department at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, and spoken to many schools, universities, clubs and organizations about his extraordinary story in Africa and adapting to his life here in America.
Students were engaged in Mr. Deng's stories about his life, his family and his advice for our students. For over an hour we were treated with a first hand account of life as a Lost Boy of Sudan.
